Stop 13 — GW Campbell House
Address: 607 North Pine Street Year built: 1890s Style: Victorian
The GW Campbell House at 607 North Pine is a 1890s Victorian built by G. W. Campbell. Per Friends of Fourth Ward, the house contains original hardwood floors throughout, the original staircase and bannister, and four functional fireplaces with original tile. The house survived a fire and served as a house of ill repute until its renovation in the 1980s.
The pre-restoration history — fire, then brothel, then 1980s renovation — is consistent with the broader Fourth Ward arc: mid-century decline, adaptive reuse for whatever generated rent, and then restoration during the Junior League era.
