Stop 20 — 319 West 9th Street

Year built: 1903 Style: Queen Anne Cottage Notable: One of the few Fourth Ward homes original to its lot

The 1903 Queen Anne Cottage at 319 West 9th is one of the few homes on the walking tour that remains on its original lot — unlike many Fourth Ward houses, which were moved into the neighborhood during the 1970s restoration. Per Friends of Fourth Ward, the large front porch retains original posts and decorative woodwork. The interior holds original heart-pine floors and doors, three fireplaces, an original claw-foot bathtub, and 12-foot ceilings with heavy crown moldings on some. The rear yard is larger than typical for Fourth Ward and includes a pond and English garden plantings.
